I'm so excited! My granddaughters are coming to town. Their parents live way out in North Carolina, and once a year they get to come out to visit during the summer. It is always a great visit having those little girls running around the house and the winery.
And they grow up so fast. Already the oldest is in the fourth grade and the youngest will be starting kindergarten this year. It seems like just yesterday my son was graduating from high school and starting college in Boulder.
Ah well, I guess that's how life runs for us. The first ten years of life pass at a snail's pace. The second ten years speed up considerably. The third ten go by in something just slightly slower than a flash. And from there, it's all you can to do hang on for dear life!
I guess that's just one thing I like about making wine. The sense of time the wine making process gives me helps slow things down. You can't hurry wine. You can't make it conform to your busy schedule- trust me, I've tried and the results were awful.
Wine grows at it's own pace with it's own sense of time. By tapping into that process, a bit of timelessness creeps into my own schedule, helping me slow down a bit...
Here's hoping you find the time to slow down a bit, and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine while you're at it.
Mike
