Our newest wine, Sophie's Red, has turned out to be a blockbuster - the '08 was sold out just before the '09 became available. The wine originated in Terry's suggestion to begin research on a soft red wine with only a touch of oak and residual sugar to make the wine more food-friendly and very sippable.
We've learned to always pay attention to Terry's ideas, and the success of Sophie's Red has certainly validated her suggestion for our newest offering.
As we mentioned last year, we embarked on a program to develop a sister Sophie's White wine, which is now available from our online wine store.
Sophie's White is a blend of 90% Pinot Gris and 10% Chardonnay. Like Sophie's Red, it has just the slightest touch of oak and residual sugar, making it very food-friendly and eminently sippable as well! The nose has abundant bright aromas of grapefruit and pineapple, which can be appreciated both in the initial swallow and in the prolonged delicious finish.
We feel this offering has incredible depth and elegance, showing harmony, strength, and remarkable character. All of us here at MSW feel this may be the best white wine we have ever crafted.
