What New Wine Would You Like To See?

Hello everyone,

If you feel like me, you're just starting to get a hint that Spring is right around the corner.  Now up here at nearly 8,000 feet, it's not quite shorts and sandals weather yet, but I've begun looking ahead to those warm days sipping wine on the patio watching the hummingbirds dance.

While last season's wines are either in the bottle or sitting peacefully in the tanks, I've turned my gaze towards the next season of wines.  I'm sure we'll produce our standard award winning wines, since we all love those.

But what new wine would you like to see?  Our Angel Blush was a sudden inspiration that turned out far better than we could have ever hoped.  Perhaps you've got the idea for our next award winning wine.

Leave me a comment below with your thoughts on a new wine for us here at Mountain Spirit Winery.  Who knows?  Perhaps we'll name one after you!

Distribution of our Mountain Spirit Wines

A visitor to the winery recently purchased a bottle of our award winning Angel Blush wine.  And, like so many others, she quickly became a fan.

Since she was on vacation to the Salida Colorado winery, she asked if there were any distributors in Minnesota, the state from which she hailed.

Alas, we don't currently distribute our wines to very many out of state retailers.  The distribution industry has made the entire process somewhat complicated and a bit costly.

But, all is not lost.  We can ship directly to Minnesota as well as twenty-seven other states!  Our shipping rates are quite reasonable, and we even provide discounts on any orders over $150.

Can we ship to your state?  Here's a link to our most recently updated list of approved states: the lucky 28 states Mountain Spirit Winery can ship to

So head on over to the winery's online store and order up a couple bottles of your favorite Mountain Spirit Wine!

My Grandkids are Coming to Town!

I'm so excited!  My granddaughters are coming to town.  Their parents live way out in North Carolina, and once a year they get to come out to visit during the summer.  It is always a great visit having those little girls running around the house and the winery.

And they grow up so fast.  Already the oldest is in the fourth grade and the youngest will be starting kindergarten this year.  It seems like just yesterday my son was graduating from high school and starting college in Boulder.

Ah well, I guess that's how life runs for us.  The first ten years of life pass at a snail's pace.  The second ten years speed up considerably.  The third ten go by in something just slightly slower than a flash.  And from there, it's all you can to do hang on for dear life!

I guess that's just one thing I like about making wine.  The sense of time the wine making process gives me helps slow things down.  You can't hurry wine.  You can't make it conform to your busy schedule- trust me, I've tried and the results were awful.

Wine grows at it's own pace with it's own sense of time.  By tapping into that process, a bit of timelessness creeps into my own schedule, helping me slow down a bit...

Here's hoping you find the time to slow down a bit, and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine while you're at it.

Great Spring and Summer Updates to Mountain Spirit Winery's Gallery!

Terry always has some great new items coming in monthly to our Mountain Spirit Gallery, and she has already received a new line of very attractive wall clocks in all shapes, sizes, and prices.  In addition, she has added an exclusive "Ladies Corner" in the gallery that you simply must stop by to see!  We've also just returned from a huge art expo and have found a brand new line of unique and extremely limited items we can't wait to unveil.  I can't say too much right now, but when I can, you'll be the first to know!

Stay tuned for more info on these and more happenings at our gallery.

Latest Update from the Mountain Spirit Winery Wine Barrels!

Hey everyone!

The wines from the 2007 harvest are resting in tanks and our oak barrels and, so far, look to be excellent once again.  The wines being prepared for our next edition of our award-winning Pinot Soleil are coming along beautifully.  We feel there is a distinct possibility that this offering could be our best ever premium red!

Speaking of our current Pinot Soleil, it finally has enough age to be really "showing its colors."  It should be reaching its peak soon, so prepare to enjoy your current supply.  Or, even better, order more from us when you can.  It should be excellent for at least two more years.

You can always order our wine from the website at www.mountainspiritwinery.com.

I hope you are all enjoying these early signs of spring!

A Visit from the Goldwings!

I spoke with Jane at the winery just the other day, and she mentioned to me that we had a visit from some of our favorite guests at the winery, a Honda Goldwing motorcycle club from the front range.  What beautiful bikes these folk had!  And it's always a pleasure showing them around the winery.  It tickles me that groups like this make Mountain Spirit Winery a part of their touring experience.  We know they don't have to and wouldn't if they didn't want to.

So, thanks for coming out!

And for anyone else who wants to come visit the winery, we are always giving tours and tastes.  We're located just west of Salida off of Hiway 50, and you can find our hours at the website http://www.mountainspiritwinery.com.  We love showing people around our full-scale production facility and pride ourselves on the fact that with our Colorado winery tour, the tour guides are the people who have actually helped us make the wine!  You won't find that in just any winery tour.

Happy New Year!

If you're like me, you've spend just a bit of time this holiday season wandering around the web looking at the different winery blogs out there.  It sure is nice to be able to read about the different wineries working hard to create delicious wines and share their wine stories.

Glad you've come by our wine blog to see what's happening here at Mountain Spirit Winery.

We made it through the holiday season.  Thanks to everyone who ordered one of our wine gift baskets.  And thanks to everyone who took the time to think about Mountain Spirit Winery for some of your gift giving needs.  While all our winter holiday gift baskets have been removed from the market, you can still find some beautiful wine themed gifts online at www.mountainspiritwinery.com.  And you can always call the winery at 719-539-7848 to have Terry custom make a wine gift basket just for you.

Terry and I were able to spend some great time with our grandsons and our newest granddaughter over the holidays.  There's nothing like a new baby to be reminded of what's truly important in our lives- quality time spent with family.

I hope you've enjoyed your family this holiday season, and I hope you continue to make time for those truly important moments in your life.

And thanks for being a part of our winery!

Mountain Spirit Winery's Angel Wine Club

Hey everyone,

In keeping with the theme of "gifts for the tough to buy for" we want to let you know about our unique wine club.  By becoming an Angel in Mountain Spirit Winery' wine club, you receive shipments of wine throughout the year at a substantial discount from retail prices.  In addition, we run special deals for Angels at different times throughout the year.

Special Super Saver Angels Discounts Continue

We are continuing our new special “super-saver” Angels discount policy.  Through November and December, Angels can purchase bottles (or cases) of the wines in this shipment (Blackberry/Cabernet Franc and Apple Ice), and receive a 25% discount off all bottles, and 30% off any order of twelve or more bottles.  If you chose to purchase a mixed case you’ll receive the 30% off these two wines, and the usual 20% Angels discount off the other bottles.

Now, what could be nicer than receiving some of Colorado's best wines at a discount?  Sign up your loved one, friend, boss, or any other hard-to-buy-for person o Mountain Spirit Winery's Angel Wine Club and they're sure to love what you've given them.

Remember to check out www.mountainspiritwinery.com for other great wine themed gift ideas.

Have you thought about wine-themed gifts this season?

Winebaskets

What do you get the person who has everything?  My children ask me that all the time until they figured out that the one thing I can't get enough of is pictures and video of my grandkids.

If you've got one of those "difficult to buy for" people on your gift list these hoidays, Mountain Spirit Winery's gallery has the perfect selection of gift ideas certain to please.

Our wine gift baskets can be ordered from our online store at MountainSpiritWinery.com.  We have a great assortment of wine gift baskets organized around different themes.  We also love creating the perfect wine gift basket just for you!  Let us know what your needs are, and we will work with you to create a unique and beautiful wine gift basket that will most certainly bring a smile to the recipient's face.

Make sure you ask us to include a couple of our Mountain Spirit Winery custom wine glasses in your basket.  This unique touch is what sets this gift apart from so many other gifts out there.

Besides, wouldn't you like a beautiful basket full of wine and chocolates for Christmas?  Order now to beat the last minute rush!

Summery Winery Tour Finale!

Alright!  Here it is.  At long last, the conclusion to Mountain Spirit Winery's Tour, taken this summer by my son and produced in the high-tech offices (that's a joke...) out in North Carolina.  I really like this half of the tour.  It shows all the ins and outs of making wine.  It also gives you an idea of the scale of our winery production facility here in Colorado.

If you ever get the chance to come visit us, we would very much enjoy giving you the full tour in person- and with a glass of wine in hand!

Enjoy!
